A walk-away price before you make the call.

Search the market with every listing rated against its own market, then see the most you can pay before you ring the seller. Each figure says how much evidence stands behind it, and how long similar cars took to sell.

The job, in your words

I need to know what it will sell for, how long it will take and the most I can pay, before I pick up the phone.

What makes it hard

  • 01

    Asking prices aren't selling prices

Ads show what sellers hope for. A very cheap one can be a deposit, a monthly price or a different car.

  • 02

A thin market looks as sure as a deep one

Three similar ads and thirty look the same on a listing site, but they don't deserve the same confidence.

  • 03

    Every day costs money

Holding a car costs you daily, and the age of ads still for sale says little about how fast cars actually sell.

Maximum buy price

The most you can pay, on either route.

Work back from the expected sale: target profit, reconditioning, fees, holding and VAT. Switch to the wholesale route, change the VAT treatment or test an offer, and watch the verdict move.

DealRevs recommends

Buy it. Offer AED 206,000, go up to AED 210,300.

At AED 206,000 the car should make AED 23,242 after reconditioning, fees, holding and VAT if it sells near the expected price in about 28 days. You can move up to AED 210,300 before it stops meeting your target.

Evidence, graded

Know when a market is thin.

Every price says how many comparable cars stand behind it. When there are too few, the listing isn't rated, a person confirms the expected sale price, and days to sell fall back to your default.

A day with DealRevs

Monday on the buying desk.

A sample day for Vikram Rao, the buyer at Sandstone Auto Group, a fictional dealer group: from this morning's market to an approved offer on a car the group lacks.

Prices the great deal before he calls

Vikram picks the car from the catalogue, because ad VINs never leave the server. A quick valuation doesn't know the VAT treatment, so it is priced cautiously.

    Vikram Rao Buyer

Calls the seller, knowing his walk-away price

A great deal for a retail buyer is still AED 10,000 more than he can pay. Seller details stay on the listing site, so he calls from there and arranges to see the car.

    Vikram Rao Buyer

    Passes on two others

The LE Titanium has only 3 comparables, so it isn't rated and any price would need his own confirmation. The AED 99,000 LE is far under its market: often a deposit, a monthly price or a different car.

The agents that matter most

The homework done before you dial.

Four of the six agents carry a car from a listing to stock.

  • Market agent

    Reads the market

About 200,000 UAE listings at 06:00, cleaned, with the cars that left the market recorded. Market search rates every listing against its own market.

  • Valuation agent

    Sets your walk-away price

The expected sale worked back to a maximum buy price and an opening offer, on the retail or the wholesale route, with the evidence graded.

  • Appraisal copilot

    Captures the car you buy

The VIN, the photos, the condition and the seller's VAT evidence on a phone, saving as it goes.

  • Pricing agent

    Takes over in stock

Each car checked against its own market every morning, with one next step and the reasons behind it.

Who does what

The agents do the sums. You make the call.

The agents Does the homework
  • Read the market at 06:00 and rate every listing against its own market
  • Grade the evidence, and flag ads far under their market
  • Work the expected sale back to a maximum buy price, on either route
  • Take days to sell from similar cars that left the market
You Make the call
  • Choose which cars are worth a call
  • Confirm the expected sale price when the evidence is weak
  • Agree a price with the seller
  • A manager or the owner approves the offer before it goes out

Questions

Asked before the call.

Does DealRevs run auctions or sell cars wholesale?

No. The wholesale route only prices an offer, using your wholesale assumptions: about 88% of the expected sale, a 2% auction fee plus AED 500 transport, cash in about 7 days and a 3% target. Where and how you sell the car is up to you.

Where do the deal ratings come from?

Each listing is compared with the median of its own comparables in this morning's snapshot: Great deal at 10% or more under, Good deal 3% to 10% under, Fair within 3%, Above market 3% to 10% over, and High at 10% or more over. With fewer than 5 comparables, a listing is not rated.

What does “Check this price” mean?

The ad is 40% or more under its market. That is often a deposit, a monthly price or a different car, so it is flagged rather than shown as a bargain.

How is days to sell worked out?

From similar cars that left the market: ads missing from two complete daily snapshots in a row, not counting relists, site outages or a feed that shrank by more than 30%. That is a sign of a sale, not proof. Without enough of them, your default of 45 days applies. It never uses the age of ads still for sale.

Can I see the seller's name or the ad's VIN?

No. Seller names and ad VINs never leave our server, so you contact the seller on the listing site. To value the car first, pick it from the catalogue; its VIN is checked when you appraise it.

Can a buyer approve offers?

Not under the default policies, which send every offer to a manager or the owner. A buyer's approval limit is AED 100,000 by default, and owners and group admins can name buyers in a policy's steps. Buyers see every appraisal and its costs, but never customer contact details.
