Stock and pricing

Pricing agent

Every car against its market, every morning.

After the 06:00 snapshot, the pricing agent compares every car in stock with its own comparables. It says where each price stands and suggests one next step, with its reasons. It never changes a price by itself.

The morning run

Every car, its own comparables.

Once the morning's snapshot is published, every car in stock gets a fresh market position: its asking price against the median of cars like it. Each one then gets a next step from where its price sits and how long it has been in stock.

  • Market figures come from our daily snapshot of UAE listings, never a live call
  • A car's own adverts are left out of its comparables
  • Fewer than 5 comparables: the price is not rated, and the screen says so

Suggestions

One next step, with its reasons.

Where a car needs more than holding, the agent suggests one next step: reduce, review, set a price, check the listing or consider wholesale. Each comes with its reasons, such as the days in stock and what another week costs. Try it, snooze it for seven days or dismiss it. It never changes anything by itself.

  • Reduce and review propose the top of the at-market band
  • Set a price proposes the market median
  • Asking prices round to AED 100

How a price is judged

Two questions, one answer.

Where is the price against its market, and how long has the car been here? Together they pick the next step. A car above its market is watched while it's fresh, reviewed from day 31 and reduced only once it's aged.

Why it isn't selling

Price is only one of four reasons.

Before anyone reaches for a markdown, the agent looks at prep, the listing, the price and stock fit: overdue prep, too few photos, not listed anywhere, above the market, a price unchanged for weeks, a thin market, or similar cars already in stock. Then it names one next step.

  • One next step for the car, not a list of everything at once
  • It may suggest a transfer to a rooftop that sells this car faster
  • Where a car is listed is a manual record your team keeps for each channel

Price changes

Approved, applied and on record.

When a change needs approval, it goes to the right person with a deadline in working minutes. The price changes only at the last approval, and only if the car is still at its old price. Every change is kept with its reason and origin, and the audit log records who made it and when.

  • Nobody approves their own change. The one exception is an owner when nobody else at the rooftop can, and the log records it as a self-approval
  • One pending change per car at a time
  • Bulk reprice moves each selected car to the top of its at-market band, sending each for approval where required

Incoming stock

Bought with evidence, stocked with it.

When an appraisal is won, the car arrives as incoming stock with its photos, purchase price, reconditioning estimate and VAT evidence, so nobody types it in twice. Until the next market run, it shows the market figure its offer was built on.

  • Incoming, in preparation, ready for sale, reserved or sent to wholesale; then sold, wholesaled or removed
  • Ready for sale needs an asking price, the required photos (8 by default) and the required prep
  • A car bought another way is added by VIN or by hand, with its source and cost

Profit

Every car's profit in three numbers.

Gross, net after holding and net after VAT, at today's price. Estimates are shown but kept out of the total. When a car is sold, wholesaled or removed, its days in stock, total cost and gross freeze.

  1. 01

    Gross

    Price − total cost

Total cost adds up the cost lines: bought, reconditioning, inspection, detailing, photos, transfer, listing fees, warranty, transport and the rest.

  2. 02

    Net after holding

    Gross − holding so far

Holding is AED 95 a day by default, plus any cost of capital you set. Suggestions to reduce, review or wholesale say what another week costs.

  3. 03

    Net after VAT

Net after holding − VAT on the sale

VAT follows the car's own treatment. If it isn't confirmed, or the purchase price is missing, VAT is taken on the full price and the figure is marked provisional.

Sales executives and viewers are never sent cost or margin. Prep enters costs without seeing them. DealRevs supports VAT decisions; it isn't a VAT ledger or an invoicing system.

Who does what

The agent watches. You price.

The pricing agent Does the homework
  • Compares every car with its own comparables after each morning's snapshot
  • Places each price below, at, above or well above its market
  • Suggests one next step, with the days in stock and the weekly holding cost
  • Looks at prep, the listing, the price and stock fit when a car isn't selling
You Make the call
  • Try a price, then set it or ask for approval
  • Snooze a suggestion for seven days, or dismiss it

Questions

Asked on the stock walk.

Does the agent ever change a price by itself?

No. A suggestion is a draft. A person sets the price, and a change that needs approval waits for the approver. The asking price doesn't move until the last approval, and only if the car is still at its old price.

Is the market price live?

No. Positions come from a daily snapshot of UAE listings read at 06:00 Gulf time, and each one shows that time. If the morning's run is late, the screens say so and show the snapshot they are using.

What does at market mean?

Within 3% either side of the median of comparable listings, by default. You can set your own band. With fewer than 5 comparables, the price is not rated rather than given a number it can't support.

Which price changes need approval?

Your approval policies decide. The default sends a drop of AED 10,000 or more to a manager or the owner, with a reason, due in 240 working minutes. Owners and group admins can change the policies.

Who sees cost and margin?

Owners, managers and finance see and edit them; buyers and group admins see them. Sales executives and viewers are never sent them, and prep enters costs without seeing them.

What happens to a new car before its first market run?

It shows the market figure its appraisal was priced on, with that snapshot's date. The next market run gives it a position of its own.
