Market agent

The market, read before the doors open.

Every morning at 06:00 Gulf time, the market agent reads about 200,000 UAE listings, cleans them and grades the evidence. Every figure you see says where it came from and when.

The 06:00 run

A failed run changes nothing.

The run starts at 06:00 Gulf time and reads the feed 5,000 listings at a time. Screens switch to the new snapshot in one step, so a run that fails part-way changes nothing. Try a late or a failed morning.

Cleaning the feed

Every ad checked before it counts.

Before anything is compared, implausible prices and outliers are left out and each known car is counted once. Ads far under the median stay in, flagged “Check this price” for a person to look at.

One square ≈ 1,000 ads

  1. Read this morningEvery page of the feed 199,962
  2. Implausible prices left outBelow AED 1,000 or above AED 60,000,000 −1,214
  3. Outliers left outOutside 0.4× to 2.5× the trim's median −3,088
  4. Repeat ads of the same carEach known VIN counts once, at its cheapest ad −7,903
  5. ComparedThe market every figure is read from 187,757
  6. Flagged “Check this price”40% or more under the median, still compared 2,871
  • 1 Implausible prices

“This price isn't believable for the car (often a deposit or a monthly figure), so it's left out of every market figure.”

Sample ads: AED 950 and AED 238,500,000, a price with three extra zeros.

  • 2 Outliers

“Far below every comparable, so it's left out of the market figures.”

Kept: AED 95,400 to AED 596,250 around a median of AED 238,500. Matched by model only, the band is 0.25× to 4×.

  • 3 One VIN, one car

A car listed on three sites is one comparable, not three, at its cheapest ad.

The VIN that joins the ads is used on the server and never shown.

  • 4 Check this price

“Far under its market: often a deposit, a monthly price or a different car.”

Sample ad at AED 129,000, 46% under: flagged, and still compared.

Each ad is placed in an emirate from its text, its coordinates or its site. About three in four can be.

An ad that doesn't state its spec counts as GCC, as the market feed treats it. When most comparables are like that, the evidence grade says so.

The evidence grade

How far to trust each number.

Every market figure carries a grade: strong, moderate, weak or none. It starts from how many comparables were found, then drops when the match had to widen, the snapshot is late or partial, or most ads don't state their spec. Change the conditions and watch the rules work.

Left the market

Gone is not the same as sold.

A listing has left the market when it is missing from two complete runs in a row. Relists, site outages and a shrinking feed don't count. Days to sell is worked out from these exits, never from the age of ads still for sale.

Days to sell≈28 days

From cars that left the market.

Median days listed47 days

“Days listed is the age of ads still for sale, not how fast cars sell.”

Leaving the market is a proxy for a sale, not proof: the market feed sends no sale signal. Days to sell uses these exits, never the age of ads still for sale.

Market search

Search the market the way you'd say it.

Type a car, a budget or a city in English or Arabic, such as “patrol 2019+ under 180k gcc”. Every listing is compared with its own market and given one of five deal ratings. With fewer than five comparables, it says “Not rated”.

  • Sort by best deal, price, mileage, newest, longest listed or biggest drop
  • Counts are listings, not unique cars, and stop at 10,000+
  • Seller names and ad VINs never leave the server
  • For roles with the “Search the market” permission

Never shown as live

Every figure says when it was read.

A number without a time can't be trusted on a Saturday morning. So every market figure in DealRevs carries the snapshot it came from, and old data is labelled old.

The labels, word for wordAs they appear on screen

  • Market data as of today 06:00 Today's daily snapshot is in.
  • Delayed · showing yesterday 06:00 Today's refresh is late; this is the last good snapshot.
  • Partial snapshot · today 06:00 This snapshot is partial: removals and some evidence are held back.
  • Missing from this snapshot (likely a site outage): site name The missing site is named.

An as-of time on every figure.

Market numbers come from the 06:00 snapshot and carry its time. Nothing is fetched live.

  2. 02

    Guide prices stay guides.

Reference values are refreshed monthly at best and are never shown as a market price.

  3. 03

    Listings, not unique cars.

The same car can appear on more than one site, so every count says what it counts.

  4. 04

Days listed isn't a selling time.

It is the age of ads still for sale. Days to sell comes from cars that left the market.

  5. 05

    Late or partial says so.

A late run shows Delayed. A partial one says Partial and names any site that was missing.

  6. 06

    Who sells stays private.

Seller names and ad VINs never leave the server, so they never reach a screen.

Who does what

The agent reads. You decide.

The market agent Does the homework
  • Reads about 200,000 UAE listings at 06:00 Gulf time, every day
  • Leaves out implausible prices and outliers, and counts each known car once
  • Finds the narrowest group of comparables with at least five listings
  • Grades the evidence and says why, in plain words
  • Marks the ads that left the market and works out days to sell from them
You Make the call
  • Confirm the expected sale price when the evidence is weak or the comparables are mixed
  • Look twice at ads flagged “Check this price”
  • Search the market for cars to buy, if your role includes it
  • Make every offer and every price change: nothing changes by itself

Questions

Asked about the data.

Is the market price live?

No. Every market figure comes from a daily snapshot read at 06:00 Gulf time, and each one shows that time. Guide prices are labelled reference values, refreshed monthly at best, and are never shown as a market price.

Which market does it cover?

UAE listings priced in AED, from our daily snapshot of the market feed. Only the UAE is covered today.

What happens if the morning run fails?

Nothing changes. Screens keep the last good snapshot, and after 08:00 it is labelled “Delayed · showing yesterday 06:00”. A figure labelled current is never more than about 26 hours old.

How do you know a car sold?

Not for certain. A listing has left the market when it is missing from two complete runs in a row, unless it was relisted, its site was down or the whole feed shrank by more than 30%. That is a proxy for a sale, not proof, and days to sell is worked out from those exits.

Why do counts say listings, not cars?

Because the same car can be advertised on more than one site. Inside a set of comparables each known VIN counts once, at its cheapest ad, but a count of listings is a count of ads.

Can I see who is selling a car?

No. Seller names and the VINs in ads never leave the server, so they never reach a screen.

What about ads that don't state a spec?

They count as GCC, as the market feed treats them. When most of a car's comparables don't state their spec, its evidence is moderate at best, and the screen says why.
